FSU’S DAVIS, LINDFORS WIN ACC PERFORMER OF THE WEEK HONORS

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – An ACC record in the men’s triple jump and a trio of No. 1 national rankings highlight the Atlantic Coast Conference weekly outdoor track and field honors for April 18.

ACC Men’s Co-Field Performers of the Week
Russell Robinson, Miami
Jeremiah Davis, Florida State
Robinson posted the nation’s No. 1 triple jump for the second week in a row, and this time set the ACC record with a distance of 17.12 meters (56-2) at the Mt. SAC Relays. Robinson, a native of Windermere, Florida, topped the previous mark of 17.08 meters (56-0) set by Virginia’s Jordan Scott at the 2019 ACC Championships.

Florida State’s Davis also posted a nation-leading mark for the current season in the long jump with his mark of 18.19 meters (26-10.5) in the Invitational Division at the Tom Jones Memorial. The Lehigh Acres, Florida senior, who was competing in his first outdoor meet of the season, led an elite field of competitors with the third-longest long jump in program history.

ACC Men’s Track Performer of the Week
Tarees Rhoden, Clemson
Rhoden’s time of 1:46.20 at the Tom Jones Memorial leads the nation and stands as the No. 2 time in Clemson school history. Rhoden, a junior from Kingston, Jamaica, came within 0.73 of the program record held by Kameron Jones. He then ran the first leg on the Tigers’ 4×400 relay team that set a school record with a time of 3:02.94 and ranks 11th nationally.

Women’s Co-Field Performers of the Week
Caisa-Marie Lindfors, Florida State
Sara Killinen, Virginia Tech
An All-American in 2021, FSU’s Lindfors has battled injuries, but the Swedish thrower is now a full go and won the Invitational Division of the Tom Jones Memorial women’s discus with a mark of 59.81 meters (196-3) to rank fourth in the nation.

Virginia Tech’s Killinen also ranks fourth nationally following her hammer throw of 67.93 meters (222-10) at the Mt. SAC Relays. The junior from Lapua, Finland, is the only ACC female student-athlete to throw more than 65 meters this season.

Women’s Track Performer of the Week
Megan McGinnis, Duke
McGinnis headlined the Friday performances at the Mt. SAC Relays as she posted wins in the collegiate sections of the women’s 200m and 400m dash, respectively. McGinnis opened her day in the 400 meters with a personal best of 52.06 seconds to finish atop the 59-member field. Her time checked in at No. 21 in the NCAA and No. 2 in Duke history.
