Alabama Announces 2023 Cross Country Schedule


TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama men’s and women’s cross country teams announced their 2023 schedule Wednesday, featuring a slate that includes two in-state meets, as well as five competitions in Southeastern Conference territory.

The reigning men’s and women’s SEC champions will kickstart their home-state schedule in Huntsville, Ala., for the North Alabama Showcase (Sept. 15) before hosting the Crimson Classic at the Harry Pritchett Running Course (Oct. 13).

In addition to the pair of in-state meets, the Tide will also compete in three other SEC states, first in Tennessee for the season-opening Memphis Twilight on Sept. 2. Alabama will then look to defend its successful SEC sweep when it travels to Columbia, S.C., for the SEC Championships on Oct. 13. The Tide concludes its in-conference, geographical travel when it heads to the Sunshine State for the NCAA South Regional (Nov. 10), located in Gainesville, Fla.

The 2023 schedule will also feature a trip to South Bend, Ind., for the Joe Piane Invitational (Sept. 29), with the NCAA Championships taking place in Charlottesville, Va. (Nov. 18)

Recapping the ’22 Success

  • SEC Sweep: Claimed both the men’s and women’s 2022 SEC Cross Country titles

    • First conference title for the women’s program in 35 years, third overall
    • First conference title for the men’s program since going back-to-back in 2008 and 2009, fourth overall
    • Kiprop earned UA’s 13th individual SEC title for the men’s program, fifth since 2015

  • NCAA Championships

    • Third time in program history that both the men’s and women’s teams advanced in the same season, second year in a row
    • Women recorded a program-best third overall finish, the program’s third-consecutive top-15 finish at the NCAA Championships
    • Men’s 27th-place finish was the program’s 22nd top-30 finish at the NCAA Championships
