NASHVILLE, Tenn. — After a long offseason, Vanderbilt track and field closed out Day 1 of the Commodore Challenge with a new school record, two top-10 times and several personal bests.

In her Commodore debut, Anaya Webster placed third in the long jump with a 5.68-meter mark.

Giavonna Meeks recorded five throws surpassing 20 meters in the weight throw, setting the school record at 20.68 meters. She finished first among freshmen and fifth overall in the event.

In the 300 meters, the Dore duo of Allyria McBride and Ella Escobar recorded top-10 times in school history. McBride won the event with a time of 38.09 seconds, which is No. 2 all-time at Vandy. Escobar moved from eighth to seventh on Vanderbilt’s all-time performer list with a personal-best time of 39.70 seconds.

Mackenzie Culpepper, Taylor McKinnon and Madison Murray turned in personal-best times on the track. Culpepper finished seventh in the 1,000 meters with a time of 2:55.72. McKinnon and Murray recorded times of 42.37 and 43.17 seconds, respectively, in the 300 meters.

Saturday’s action will begin at noon with the pole vault and the 60-meter hurdles prelims. Events will be streamed on SEC Network+, and live results are available online.
