Cougs wrap up weekend from Spokane Indoor Challenge and UW Indoor Preview


SEATTLE/ SPOKANE, Wash. — Washington State men’s track and field capped its first weekend of competition in 2024 with a small group of athletes competing Saturday between the Spokane Indoor Challenge at The Podium in Spokane, and the UW Indoor Preview in Seattle.

Freshman Gavin Dimick continued a strong weekend for Cougar newcomers, notching a PR in his second-career men’s pole vault competition with a final mark of 4.75m (15′ 7.00″) to place sixth overall on day two of the Spokane Indoor Challenge at The Podium.

Across the state, Kyle Ortega-Gammill led the way for Washington State in the men’s mile with a 4:16.22 to place 32nd out of a field of 63 runners.  Grayson Wilcott posted a time of 8:26.05 in one of the morning’s opening heats in the men’s 3,000-meter run, a time that ultimately finished at 41st overall.

 

Up Next:
Washington State will return to action close to home next week in Moscow, Idaho, at the Idaho McCluskey Memorial Open from the P1FCU Kibbie Dome next Friday and Saturday, Jan. 19-20.
