CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – A national champion, multiple All-Americans, and nine league championships headline the 2023-24 Atlantic Coast Conference Indoor Track and Field season honors, the league announced Thursday.
The honorees were selected via a vote of the league’s head coaches:
ACC Men’s Indoor Track Performer of the Year
Parker Wolfe, North Carolina
ACC Women’s Indoor Track Performer of the Year
Olivia Markezich, North Carolina
ACC Men’s Indoor Field Performer of the Year
Jeremiah Davis, Florida State
ACC Women’s Indoor Field Performer of the Year
Jadin O’Brien, Notre Dame
ACC Men’s Indoor Freshman of the Year
Cade DeWitt, Louisville
ACC Women’s Indoor Freshman of the Year
Gladys Chepngetich, Clemson
ACC Men’s Indoor Coach of the Year
Chris Miltenberg, North Carolina
ACC Women’s Indoor Coach of the Year
Dave Cianelli, Virginia Tech
Virginia Tech’s Cianelli earned the ACC Women’s Indoor Coach of the Year award for the third consecutive season and the sixth time in his career. Cianelli led Virginia Tech to its third consecutive ACC championship, totaling 92 points at the conference meet in Boston, Massachusetts.
On the men’s side, North Carolina’s Chris Miltenberg was named the ACC Men’s Indoor Coach of the Year after leading the Tar Heels to their first ACC championship since 1996. After winning the ACC’s Cross Country Coach of the Year award in the fall, Miltenberg became the first North Carolina men’s coach to win the indoor track and field honor since Dennis Craddock in 2010.
Davis repeats as the ACC Men’s Indoor Field Performer of the Year after winning the ACC championship in both the long jump and the triple jump. The Lehigh Acres, Florida, native went on to finish second at the NCAA Indoor National Championship in the long jump, while also placing third in the triple jump to earn First Team All-America honors in both events. Davis becomes the first field athlete to win back-to-back yearly awards since Virginia’s Jordan Scott in 2019 and 2020.
O’Brien also repeats as the ACC Women’s Indoor Field Performer of the Year, becoming the first women’s field athlete to win consecutive titles since Duke’s Megan Clark in 2015 and 2016. O’Brien repeated as the NCAA champion in the women’s pentathlon after winning the…
