GAINESVILLE, FL – The Maryland track and field team closed out day one of competition at the Florida Relays, with Andrew Harmon, Armanie Coleman and Mekhi Abbott showing out for the team.
Abbott competed in the men’s javelin throw and threw a personal best of 60.98m earning a new school record in the javelin.Â
Harmon competed in the men’s hammer throw and threw a new personal best at 59.78 which earned him number two all time in the Maryland record books.Â
Coleman ran 24.14 in the women’s 200m which earned her a number seven all-time spot in the Maryland record books.Â
Other Highlights
- The Maryland 4×100 team of Kamari Trotz, Tanner Leach, Justin Ofotan, and Kevin Collins competed in the prelims of the event.
- Armanie Coleman and Victoria Teasley both competed in the women’s 200m and both ran their personal best. Coleman ran 24.14 which earned her a number seven all-time spot in the Maryland record books. Teasley ran a 24.69.Â
- Kayla Thorpe competed in the women’s javelin throw and threw a 44.83.Â
- Collins, James, and Ofotan all competed in the men’s 200m. Collins ran a season best of 21.54.Â
- Anna Coffin ran in the invitational 1500m finishing with a time of 4:25.08. Katie Turk set a new personal best in the event clocking 4:29.72.
The Terps will return to the track in Gainesville tomorrow, with events starting at 9 A.M. The meet will also be streamed on SECN+ starting at 12:45 P.M.
