Bears Post 4 Personal Bests At Bryan Clay Invitational

Pretre Takes Third Place In 1500m Section B

AZUSA – Five of California track & field’s distance runners took to the track at Cougar Athletic Stadium on Saturday evening, closing out the Bryan Clay Invitational by racing in a combined four different 1500m sections.
 
Freshman Addie Johnson, Cal’s lone female representatives, posted a personal best in the women’s Open C competition with a time of 4:38.15 – second in her heat and sixth overall. Redshirt freshman Rowan FitzGerald followed in the men’s Open C race with a seventh-place 3:54.56, which was also second best in his heat and a personal record.
 
Senior Carrick Denker and sophomore Caden Carney each raced in the Open A section, with Denker recording a new PR at 3:48.83 and Carney following just behind at 3:49.80. The night finished with yet another career best, this time from rookie Justin Pretre, who won his heat and took third place in the Open B section at 3:48.90.

Cal will bring a large contingent south to Walnut for the Mt. SAC Relays on April 18-20.
