USC Athletes Post Top Time Or Mark By Collegians In 10 Events At Oxy Invitational

Jasmine Jones won the women’s 400m hurdles, Johnny Brackins Jr. the men’s 400m hurdles and Jada Gatlin the women’s triple jump to lead USC track and field’s action at the Oxy Invitational in Los Angeles, Calif. today (May 4).   Jones and Brackins Jr. both also had the top collegiate time in another event as current USC athletes has the top collegiate time or mark in 10 events.

  • Jasmine Jones won the women’s 400m hurdles with a time of 56.38.
  • Johnny Brackins Jr. won the men’s 400m hurdles with a PR of 50.84.
  • Jada Gatlin won the women’s triple jump competition with a season-best jump of 40-0.00/12.19m (+0.2).  Ahnyx Bush placed second with a best leap of 39-6.50/12.05 (+0.0).
  • Jasmine Jones placed second in the women’s 100m hurdles with a time of 12.86 (-0.4).  Her time was tops among the collegians and second only to Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, who won with a time of 12.71 (-0.4).  It was Jones’ first completed 100m hurdles race of the season and moved her into 10th on the NCAA descending order list in the event.  Allie Jones, running unattached, had a time of 13.33 (-0.4) to place fourth.
  • Johnny Brackins Jr. placed second in the men’s 110m hurdles with a time of 13.71 (+1.1).  He was the top collegian, second only to USC graduate Tade Ojora, who had a time of 13.60 (+1.1).
  • Johnnie Blockburger took second in the men’s 400m dash with a season-best time of 45.20 and Jacob Andrews took fourth with a season-best time of 46.21.  The pair were first and second among the collegians in the event.  Winning the 400m dash was USC alum Michael Norman with a stadium and meet-record time of 44.21 and fellow alum Isaiah Jewett finished third with a time of 45.50.
  • Travis Williams placed second in the men’s 100m dash, first among the collegians, with a season-best time of 10.39 (+0.3).
  • Jaelen Knox took second in the men’s 200m dash with a season-best time of 21.35 (-0.3).  He had the fastest time among the college competitors.
  • Kamryn Elgersma placed second in the women’s javelin with a personal-best throw of 151-7 (46.21m).  She had the top throw by a college athlete in the event.
  • Gigi Maccagnini placed fourth in the women’s 800m race with a time of 2:06.96 and Alyssa Blockburger finished fifth with a PR of 2:07.07.  Maccagnini and Blockburger were the top two…
