Eric Albright Named Solomon Eye Physicians and Surgeons Terp of the Week

COLLEGE PARK, MD — Each week during the 2023-2024 season a Maryland student-athlete, who has shown excellence on and off the playing field, will be selected as the Solomon Eye Physicians & Surgeons Terp of the Week.

This week’s Terp of the Week is track and field’s Eric Albright. This marks the second time this year that he has been named Terp of the Week.

This weekend at Maryland’s annual Kehoe Twilight Meet, Albright broke the men’s 800m school record. Crossing the finish line in 1:48.26 seconds, the junior from Glenn Mills, PA became just the second Terp ever to break 1:49 in the outdoor 800m, and broke Per Kristoffersen’s 42-year-old record that was set in the spring of 1982.

This record comes after Albright moved into second all-time at the Florida Relays in the outdoor 800m earlier this season, and is the third school record he has set this year. Albright broke the indoor 800m school record at the Boston Valentine Invitational on February 10th, and broke the indoor 1000m record a week later at the Navy Select meet in Annapolis. Last year, Albright was also part of the men’s 4×800 team that broke the school record at the 2023 Penn Relays.

Maryland track and field will be back in action this weekend as the team heads to Ann Arbor, Michigan for the 2024 Big Ten Outdoor Track and Field Championships, with the competition beginning on Friday, May 10th.
