Plant and Butler named ACC Track Performers of the Week


CHARLOTTE, N.C. –  Virginia Tech track and field athletes Nick Plant and Lindsey Butler have been named ACC Track Performers of the Week, announced the conference on Tuesday. 

Plant crossed the finish line first in the men’s 800m at the Hill City Twilight, clocking in a personal-best time of 1:46.35, ranking 13th in the NCAA. He ranks 14th in the 1500m with a time of 3:38.93, set at the Wake Forest Invitational on Apr. 19. In the ACC, Plant ranks second in the 800m and fourth in the 1500m.

 

Butler won the women’s 800m with a season-best time of 2:02.65, ranked 17th in the NCAA. She ends the regular season ranked third in the 1500m after breaking the Virginia Tech record with a time of 4:07.96 at UNC, winning her second ACC award of the year. She opened the indoor season clocking a personal-best, and school record, 1000m time 2:41.00.  In the ACC, Butler ranks third in 800-meter and first in the 1500 meter run.
