Gamecocks Open SEC Outdoor Championships in Gainesville – University of South Carolina Athletics

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (May 8, 2024) – South Carolina Track & Field is gearing up for the best track meet of the outdoor season, the 2024 SEC Outdoor Championship. The three-day meet will begin on Thursday afternoon and will conclude on Saturday night in Gainesville, Fla.

Fans can also watch live video each day on SEC Network+, with Saturday’s final broadcast at 6 p.m. airing on the SEC Network. Ticket Information
Fans that are interested in attending the event in the Gainesville area can do so for a fee. Tickets are $40 for adults and $25 for students, covering all three days. Single day tickets are available for purchase at $15 for adults and $10 for students.

Meet Information
The best track & field teams in the country will be competing at one time this weekend in Gainesville, Fla. for the right to call themselves SEC Outdoor Champions. On the women’s side, nine of the 14 competing teams are ranked inside the USTFCCCA Top 25 rankings. LSU enters as the highest-ranked squad, sitting atop the rankings. Arkansas (No. 2), Texas A&M (No. 4), South Carolina (No. 6), Florida (No. 7), Georgia (No. 8), and Tennessee (No. 10) round out the Top-10 overall rankings. Arkansas and Florida have combined for the last nine SEC Outdoor Championships. The last SEC Outdoor Championship to be held in Gainesville was in 2009 with Florida taking the women’s crown, and Arkansas edging the Gators out on the men’s side for the title. On the men’s side, 11 teams rank inside the Top 25, including Florida who enters as the top overall team in the country. The SEC controls the top five in the men’s standing with Florida, Texas A&M, LSU, Alabama and Arkansas sitting in that order.

The SEC Championship is a scored meet. The top eight scorers in each event will result in points for their teams in the following format (10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1). Competitors who finish top three in events earn the title of All-SEC, with the top finisher earning a spot on the First Team and Second Team will consist of second and third-place finishers.
