The loss of three all state track and field athletes forced others on Bloomfield’s boys track and field team to grow up quickly. And grow up they did as the WarHawks won their 10th overall title and their third consecutive on Wednesday at Willowbrook Park in New Britain. They scored 135 points to Bolton’s 48 with Immaculate only two points behind in third. Last year’s runner-up Derby was 4th with 44 and Lyme-Old Lyme at 43 points of the 29 teams that scored.

The week before the outdoor season started, Bloomfield coach Garfield White found out twins Davien and Davion Kerr, who were members of last year’s Class S championship 4x100m team were transferring to a private school for football and Class S 300m indoor champion Jahmeen Harrigan chose to focus on soccer and not run track in the spring.

The field event brought in 78 points led by Francis and Manson. In the shot put Francis, only a sophomore, won with a throw of 50-8.0 and then finished third in the discus, throwing 144-00. They placed two others in the shot and one more in the discus plus a 7th in the javelin.

The high jump went to Manson who cleared 6-4 with sophomore Jessie Singleton Jr., who was 7th last year winning the triple jump at 43-11.75. In the pole vault, Remiel Kirlew cleared 12 ft to tie the school record and finished 4th. Ryan Pryce took a third and a fourth in the long and triple jumps.

Delante Senior was part of the 4x100m and swept both hurdle races. He set his PR in the 110m hurdles crossing the line 14.63…
