Kerala’s 27 years old international runner, Jabir MP, made a big impression at the second leg of the one-day Indian Grand Prix here on Thursday at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.
Jabir surged ahead of the other competitors at the last bend of the 400m hurdles to post a sub 50 seconds time, pushing home favourite Santhosh Kumar T to second spot.
Competing in his first race of the season, Kerala’s low hurdler posted a time of 49.94 seconds to finish ahead of Santhosh Kumar, whose time was 50.14 seconds, in the group A race.
Santhosh Kumar later clocked a brilliant time in the 400m flat. He clocked 46.46 seconds to win the 400m A race.
The women’s 400m hurdles was dominated by Asian Games medalist, R Vithya Ramraj. She clocked 57.28 seconds. Vithya also scored a double by posting a time of 53.00 seconds in the women’s 400m A race.
