Amari Turner ended her career at Cal as the Bears’ outdoor pole vault record holder.

Bears’ Top Female Pole Vaulter Earns Third-Team Spot

AUSTIN, Texas – California track & field’s Amari Turner, who received her undergraduate degree in environmental economics & policy in 2023 and earned a graduate certificate in business administration and entrepreneurship in 2024, was named a Third-Team Academic All-American by College Sports Communicators (CSC) on Tuesday.

Turner, who moved up to No. 3 in indoor program pole vault history with a clearance of 4.23m (13-10.5) in February at the Don Kirby Invitational, was the nation’s No. 8 vaulter in the outdoor season. Her outdoor opener of 4.32m (14-2) at the Hornet Invitational was a new program record, breaking Lauren Martinez’ 2018 mark; Turner would later re-set that record twice more, raising her personal best to 4.40m (14-5.25). She also set a new Big Meet record with a mark of 4.35m (14-3.25), surpassing Stanford’s Katarina Stefanidi’s previous record set in 2011.

Turner’s future plans include attending law school and specializing in climate policy and environmental justice. This is her first Academic All-America selection.
