Davis Earns Gold Medal in Peru: Recapping the U20 World Athletics Championships


TEMPE, Ariz. – Three medals are coming back to Tempe after a fantastic showing from Sun Devil Track & Field at the U20 World Athletics Championships in Lima, Peru, headlined by Jayden Davis’ gold in the Men’s 4×400 and silver in the 400m.

Four Sun Devils – sophomores Davis (USA) and Alex Johnson (USA) and incoming freshmen James Bauman (USA) and Kiara Webb (Canada) – represented their home countries on the world stage at the August 27-31 games at Estadio Atletico de la Videna.

Davis’ pair of medals are joined by Kiara Webb, who was a member of Team Canada’s 4x100m relay that took bronze on Saturday evening.

Davis, a local product from Gilbert, Arizona, is starting to become a household name in collegiate track and field. He’s now an NCAA champion, a conference champion and a two-time medalist at the World Championships.

He posted the top times in each of the first two days in the 400m heats before becoming the runner-up in the final to South Africa’s Udeme Okon (45.69).
