Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce was crowned the fastest woman on earth at the culmination of an exciting second day of action at the IAAF World Athletics Championships in Doha.

The Jamaican claimed a fourth World Championships gold medal with a blistering 10.71s run with her son supporting in the crowd.

Also winning a fourth World Championships gold was American triple jumper Christian Taylor, whose 17.92m leap could not be surpassed by his rivals.

There was a new world record set in the mixed 4x400m as the American team of Wilbert London, Allyson Felix, Courtney Okolo and Michael Cherry went round in 3:09.34s. This win gave Felix a 12th World Championships medal, moving her ahead of Usain Bolt as the most decorated athlete in World Championships.

The women’s pole vault final was the most competitive in World Championships history, and Anzhelika Sidorova climbed higher than rivals Sandi Morris and reigning champion Katerina Stefanidi to claim gold.

In the final race of the day, 32-year-old Liu Hong landed her third 20km race walk title and China swept the medals in the event, with Qieyang Shenjie and Yang Liujing following her across the finish line.
