MONACO (MON, Jul 21): Faith Kipyegon again impressed the crowds at the stadium and all over the world, smashing the one-mile world record by 4.69 sec. In addition, other three world leads and four area records, including a European record for Mohamed Katir over 5000m (12:45.01). And also the first loss of the season for Mondo Duplantis.

Short reviews

Women

200m – World champion Shericka Jackson wins in 21.86 (0.2) ahead of Julien Alfred (22.08) and Dina Asher-Smith, who improved her season’s best to 22.23 in the third.

400m – A third Diamond League win of the season for Natalia Kaczmarek, who powered through the field for victory in 49.63. Lifetime best of 49.68 for Shamier Little in second. Lieke Klaver and Rhasidat Adeleke both clocked 49.99 for third and fourth, respectively (49.988 and 49.990).

One mile – Third world record of the season for Faith Kipyegon, who destroyed Sifan Hassan’s world record of 4:12.33 with 4:07.64! Her 1500m was 3:51.5 unofficially. Ciara Mageean decimated Sonia O’Sullivan’s Irish record with 4:14.58 in second to move to fifth on the world all-time list. Laura Muir was fourth in a British record of 4:15.24, and there were area records for Jessica Hull in 4:15.34 (Oceania), Nikki Hiltz in 4:16.35 (North America), and Joselyn Brea in 4:27.41 (South America), and national record for France by Berenice Cleyet-Merle (4:26.06).

100m hurdles – 34-year-old Nia Ali won in a world lead and lifetime best of 12.30 to break Gail Devers’ meeting record of 12.42. Ali won by 0.01 from Kendra Harrison, with Alaysha Johnson third in 12.39 (387), and Tia Jones in 12.39 (388), and Laeticia Bapte of France finished sixth in 12.73 (0.6) PB.

High jump – Nicola Olyslagers cleared 1.99m to win by one clear height from Ukrainians Iryna Gerashchenko and Yaroslava Mahuchikh, who were second and third on countback at 1.96m.

Long jump – A third Diamond League win of the season for Larissa Iapichino with an outdoor lifetime best of 6.95m (0.3, also EL) in the sixth round to beat Tara Davis-Woodhall (6.88, 0.2). Ivana Vuleta improved to 6.86m (0.0) to finish third.

Men

100m – Ferdinand Omanyala edged out Letsile Tebogo, 9.92 (0.6) to 9.93. This was Tebogo’s first sub-10-second performance of the year.
