Trojans Terry And Yeargin Advance During First Day Of T&F At Paris Olympics

TeeTee Terry advanced to the women’s 100m semifinals and Nicole Yeargin advanced to the mixed 4x400m relay final to highlight USC’s efforts during the first day track and field at the 2024 Paris Olympics held at Stade de France in Paris, France today (Aug 2). 

  • USA’s TeeTee Terry (USC, 2021) won her women’s 100m first-round heat with a time of 11.15 (-0.4) to automatically advance to the semifinals tomorrow.  Terry’s time was 22nd overall and she will compete in heat three of the semifinals at 10:50 a.m. tomorrow.  Should she advance, the event final will be at 12:20 p.m. tomorrow.
  • Nicole Yeargin (USC, 2021) anchored Great Britain’s mixed 4x400m relay team which won its first-round heat with a national-record time of 3:10.61 to automatically advance to the final. Her team had the third-fastest qualifying time to the final, which is tomorrow at 11:55 a.m.
  • Lorea Ibarzabal (USC, 2017) of Spain placed sixth in her women’s 800m first-round heat with a time of 2:00.71.  The top three in each heat advanced automatically to the semifinals on Sunday.  Ibarzabal will compete tomorrow in the 800m repechage at 2:20 a.m. for a second chance to advance to the semifinals.
  • Puerto Rico’s Ayden Owens-Delerme (who competed at USC in 2019) is in second place in the men’s decathlon with 4608 points.  He will enter Day 2 tomorrow 42 points behind the leader.

Current, former or graduated Trojans in action tomorrow at the 2024 Paris Olympics will be: Chris Borzor (USC, 2023) for Haiti in the men’s 100m preliminary rounds, Aaron Brown (USC, 2014) for Canada in the men’s 100m first round, Andre De Grasse (USC, 2015) for Canada in the men’s 100m first round, Lorea Ibarzabal (USC, 2017) for Spain in the women’s 800m repechage, Ayden Owens-Delerme (USC, 2019) for Puerto Rico in the men’s decathlon, TeeTee Terry for USA in the women’s 100m semifinals and Nicole Yeargin (USC, 2021) for Great Britain in the mixed 4x400m relay.
