XC Preview: #10 Lady Vols and Vols Open Season with Tennessee Cross Country Invitational


KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee’s 2024 cross country season begins Friday at 8 a.m. ET as the No. 10 Lady Vols and Vols play host to Chattanooga and the University of the Cumberlands in the Tennessee Cross Country Invitational at Cherokee Farms Cross Country Course.
 
Friday is the only home meet of the season for UT and kicks off a new era under first-year head coach Justin Duncan.
 
MEET INFO
The meet is free and open to the public. For fans attending, spectator parking will be in any on-street parking available on the UT Research Campus.

RACE LINEUPS
Women’s Three-Mile – 8 a.m. ET
The Lady Vols open the meet with a three-mile race, beginning at 8 a.m. ET. Teegan Anderson, Msgana Araya, Lily Baker, Emma Kate Hamby, Ella Johnson, Andie-Marie Jones, Savannah Rivera, Lauren Rutlin, Summer Schuster and Jaylee Wingate are slated to run on Friday.
 
Anderson, Baker, Johnson, Rivera and Wingate will be making their Tennessee cross country debuts. Jaci Sievers and Madison Archdale will run unattached.
 
Men’s Four-Mile – 8:30 a.m.
The men close out the first race of the season with a four-mile run around Cherokee Farms. Canaan Anderson, Hudson Betts, Brody Chapman, Yonas Haile, Zach Jaeger, Christopher Middleton-Pearson and Pavel Vinduska will take to the grass for the Vols.
 
Betts, Haile, Jaeger, Middleton-Pearson and Vinduska will make their cross country debuts in the Orange and White.
 
PRESEASON RANKINGS
The Southeastern Conference released the 2024 SEC Cross Country Preseason Coaches’ Poll on Tuesday – with the Lady Vols being picked to finish fourth in the league.

 

The women also checked in at No. 2 in the South Region – which they won in 2023 – and are ranked 10th in the nation in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association preseason poll.

 

The Vols enter the 2024 campaign picked to finish seventh in the SEC and ranked No. 3 in the South Region.

 

UP NEXT

Tennessee heads south to Tallahassee, Florida, for an NCAA South Region preview with the Vols and Lady Vols racing in the Florida State Pre-Regional on Friday, Sept. 27. FSU is set to host the region meet on November 15.
