Women’s Cross Country Moves up to No. 6 in USTFCCCA Coaches’ Poll

The Gator Women maintained their No. 1 Ranking in the USTFCCCA South Region Rankings.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida’s Women’s Cross Country team was named the No. 6 team in the nation in USTFCCCA’s week one coaches’ poll, up from their No. 8 spot in the publication’s preseason rankings.

The No. 6 Gators tie their season-high Coaches Poll ranking from last year, when they were named No. 6 in the week 5 poll following their SEC Championship win.

The Gators remained the top-ranked team in the USTFCCCA South Region, followed by No. 15 Tennessee and No. 16 Alabama. The Gators won the NCAA South Regional in Gainesville last season, and look to recreate their postseason success in this year’s South Regional in Tallahassee on November 15.

Though Florida didn’t race a full squad in their season-opener at the UCF Invite, the Gators posted strong times and claimed a second-place team finish, showcasing their depth of talent and leading to their surge in the coaches’ poll.

The Gators’ next race will take them to Columbia, Mo., as they take on the field in the Gans Creek Classic.
