MEET INFORMATION

  • The women’s 4K is set to begin at 8:15 p.m., followed by the men’s 6K at 8:45 p.m.
  • Duke will compete amid a field that includes Bluefield State, Campbell, ECU, Elon, Meredith, Pfeiffer, Shaw, UNCW and Voorhees.
  • Live results will be provided by RunSignUp HERE.

WHAT TO KNOW

  • Duke will look to defend its Elon Opener crown this weekend, as the men’s and women’s squads each posted five top-10 placements en route to earning first-place team finishes to sweep the 2021 meet.
  • Head coach Angela Reckart enters her second season at the helm.
  • Duke returns 12 letterwinners from its 2021 squad.
  • The Blue Devils will have 13 runners competing in the meet – Zach Barry, Rory Cavan, Will Dixon, Jack Kovach, James Lee, Connor Wells and Beck Wittstadt will represent the men’s team. On the women’s side, Anna Corcoran, Karly Forker, Caroline Howley, Naima Turbes and Kelli Wilson will compete for the Blue Devils.
  • Forker, Lee and Wittstadt are set to make their Duke cross country debuts. Wittstadt enjoyed a breakout freshman campaign on the track, featuring an NCAA East Regional qualification in the 800m, and looks to replicate that success over to the cross country course this season.
  • Forker headlines the women’s side and brings plenty of collegiate experience. The graduate transfer from Bucknell owned the Bison school records in the outdoor mile and DMR.
  • Friday’s meet marks the collegiate debut for Corcoran, who enters with a strong distance pedigree from her high school career in Virginia.

UP NEXT

  • The Blue Devils are back in action on Sept. 16 with the team split into two groups.
  • Several members of the squad head to Charlottesville, Va., for the Virginia Invitational, while others travel up the road to Raleigh to compete in the Adidas XC Challenge.
