UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State men’s and women’s cross country programs host their first of three home events for the 2022 season, the Harry Groves Spiked Shoe Invitational, this Friday, Sept. 9 at the Penn State Golf Courses.

The event will consist of a 6K race for the women starting at 10 a.m. with the men’s 5.2 mile race to follow at 10:45 a.m.

Results will be posted on PrimeTime Timing and on GoPSUsports.com following the event.
Â
Participating college teams include the following: American, Butler (women), Lehigh (women), Navy, Penn, Penn State, St. Joe’s, Syracuse, West Virginia (women), and Youngstown State.

PARKING INFORMATION
Parking for spectators is available in the West Parking Deck located off White Course Drive for a $1 an hour rate.

PENN STATE OUTLOOK
The Nittany Lions are coming off a strong season debut at the Dolan Duals at Lock Haven Sept. 2. Faith DeMars came out on top in the women’s 4K with a time of 13:54.9. The first 13 finishers were all Nittany Lions, including two running unattached.

In the men’s 6K, Brendan Colwell crossed the finish first at 18:01.2. Similar to the women’s team, the top 14 places were occupied by Nittany Lions, including three unattached runners. Â

The Spiked Shoe Invitational is the first of three home cross country meets for the Nittany Lions this season, with the Penn State National Open (Oct. 14) and NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional (Nov. 11) to follow.

Penn State will be on the course next at the Notre Dame Invitational Friday, Sept. 30.
