“Julia did a fantastic job at our first meet of the season,” said assistant coach Bob Phillips. “We had to back off her training a bit in December, so she is not back to a full approach yet. Regardless, she was still determined to put up a strong mark and clearly did that, now tied for the top mark in the country.”Â
Fixsen is tied for first in Nation after clearing a season-best height of 14′ 7.25″ (4.45m) in the women’s pole vault event at the Virginia Tech Invitational. Fixsen finished second among the 11 student-athletes competing in the field. Volunteer assistant coach, Bridget Williams, won the event clearing a facility record height of 15′ 7.25″Â (4.76m). Williams currently hold the number one mark in the world.Â
Virginia Tech will be back in action Jan. 20 – 21 to host the Hokie Invitational in Blacksburg, Va.Â
