RALEIGH — After a record-breaking weekend, NC State junior Katelyn Tuohy adds more accolades to her collection.
Â
On Tuesday the Stony Point, NY native was named the USTFCCCA National Female Athlete of the Week, as well as the ACC Women’s Track Performer of the Week.
Â
Saturday at the Dr. Sander Invitational, Tuohy set an NCAA record in the mile, finishing with a time of 4:24.26. The previous record was 4:25.91, set by Jenny Simpson of Colorado in 2009.Â
Â
The junior has gotten off to a strong start this indoor season. In December, she ran the 5000m in 15:15.92 at the Boston University Sharon Colyear Danville Season Opener. That mark is currently No. 1 in the nation.
In just two seasons, Tuohy already has two NCAA titles (outdoor 5000m, cross country) and is a six-time All-American.
