Distance runners Lindsey Butler, Star Price, Barbora Malikova, and Hannah Ballowe are scheduled to compete in the 4x400m relay in Lynchburg. Butler and Price are ranked second and third within the ACC in the 800-meters clocking 2:02.78 (Butler) and 2:03.97 (Price) last month. The women rank 15th and 23rd in the NCAA Top 25. Ballowe ranks 11th in the conference with a time of 2:06.43 in the 800m.
Malikova returns to the track after clocking two personal-best times at the Virginia High Performance meet on Sunday. Malikova won the 400m with a time of 52.59 (fourth in the ACC) and the 200m with a time of 24.07 (25th in the ACC). She ranks 44th in the nation in the 400m with three weeks left til regionals.
Ranked 25th in the women’s discus, senior Essence Henderson is set to compete on Wednesday in both the shot put and discus events. Henderson sits fourth in the ACC shot put (53’3.5″ (16.24m)), and fifth in the discus (184’2″ (56.13m)).
Senior Antonio Lopez Segura is prepared to take on the 1500m for this first time this year. Lopez Segura last set a personal-best time in the 1500m at the 2022 Liberty meet clocking in at 3:39.89, sixth fastest time in program history. Earlier this season, Lopez Segura broke the school record in the 10,000m at the Bryan Clay Invitational crossing the finish line at 28:09.86. He ranks first in the ACC 10,000m and 11th in the 5,000m.
Placed 11th in the conference in 800m, Nick Plant will take his chances in the 1500m with his last chance to move up in the rankings during the regular season.
The men’s 4x100m relay team of Kahleje “KJ” Tillmon, Torrence Walker, Kennedy Harrison, and Cole Beck recorded the 15th fastest time (39.19) in the nation at East Coast Relays last weekend. Beck also clocked a season-best time of 10.14 in the 100m, ranked 25th in the NCAA and sixth in the conference. Harrison is placed seventh in the 400m (46.57) and eighth in the 200m (20.74) within the ACC.
Sprinter Judson Lincoln IV finished second in the 400m at the Florida Relays stopping the clock with personal-best time of 45.66, ranked 19th in the NCAA. Lincoln IV looks to improve upon his time as he heads into the championship season and looks towards ACCs and Regionals.
