XC Returns to Gainesville for NCAA Regionals – Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech cross country is headed to the NCAA South Region Championship, which will take place Friday, Nov. 10 at Mark Bostick Golf Course in Gainesville, Fla. The women will compete in the 6K championship race which is set to begin at 8:30 a.m., followed by the men’s 10K championship race starting at 9:30 a.m.

The regional performances will determine the NCAA Championship teams and individual qualifications. The top two teams from each regional meet and 13 at-large team selections will compete at nationals. Individual qualifications will include 36 auto qualifiers and two at-large bids.

At the 2022 NCAA Regionals, Tech Alum Liz Galarza finished the women’s 6k in eight place to qualify the NCAA Championships.

The women will be led by senior Kate Jortberg (Glenview, Ill.), junior Mary Brady (Avondale Estates, Ga.), and senior Katy Earwood (Martinez, Ga.). Graduate Zach Jaeger (Peachtree City, Ga.), senior John Higinbotham (Covington, Ga.), senior Chris Cherono (Eldoret, Kenya) will lead for the men.

Competitive Drive Initiative Turn 2

Looking to build on the success of last year’s Competitive Drive Initiative, Georgia Tech, the Georgia Tech Foundation and Georgia Tech athletics are partnering once again to launch Competitive Drive Initiative Turn 2. CDI Turn 2 has a goal of raising $2.5 million in new gifts to the Alexander-Tharpe Fund’s Athletic Scholarship Fund by Dec. 31, and Georgia Tech and the Georgia Tech Foundation will match eligible gifts to accelerate the impact for Tech athletics. Like last year, not only will gifts to CDI Turn 2 be matched, but so will the contributor’s benefits in the way of A-T Fund giving levels and priority points. To learn more and contribute online, visit atfund.org/turn2.
