Forbes Crowned Hammer Throw Champion, Tigers Complete First Day of Penn Relays – Clemson Tigers Official Athletics Site

PHILADELPHIA, Penn. – The Clemson Tigers impressed in the first day of Penn Relays as Marie Forbes secured first-place in the women’s hammer throw to be tabbed the event champion in Philadelphia.

Forbes throw of 63.49 marked a new season best for the Tiger as she has continued to thrive this outdoor season. Going into the weekend, the mark would have been ranked No. 22 in the nation.

Alongside Forbes, a few other Tigers on the women’s side entered their names or improved their overall marks on Clemson’s all-time list as the team will look to continue building off Thursday’s success for the remainder of the weekend.

Meet Highlights:

  • With a season-best throw of 63.49, Marie Forbes was crowned the women’s hammer throw champion as the mark earned her a first-place finish
  • In the women’s hammer throw, freshman Kendra Dye secured a sixth place overall finish and added her name to the all-time list as her throw of 54.70 is now ranked No. 7 in Clemson history for that event
  • In the women’s 400m hurdles, Ken’Naria Gadson crossed the line at 56.82 to record a second-place overall finish in the event
  • In the women’s 3000m steeplechase, both Maddie Dinneen and Madison Roush impressed for the Tigers as they each moved up/placed their name on the top-10 list as Dinneen ran a personal best of 10:32.53 (No. 3) and Roush ran a personal best of 10:40.42 (No. 5)
