ACC Track and Field Championships Open Next Thursday at NC State


RALEIGH, N.C. (theACC.com) – The 2023 Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Championships are set for Thursday through Saturday (May 11-13) at NC State’s Paul Derr Track.

This marks the 11th year that NC State will serve as the host school for the event and the second time in three seasons after previously hosting in 2021.

Expanded coverage of the ACC Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Championships will be streamed live each day via ACC Network Extra as follows: Thursday from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m., Friday from 11 a.m. through 9 p.m., and Saturday from 2 p.m. until the championship’s conclusion at approximately 9 p.m. Steve Schalnger will be on the call, with former Duke head coach Norm Ogilvie returning on color commentary and Hailey Hunter as sideline reporter. ACC Network will re-air Saturday’s finals on Sunday (May 14) from 8 a.m. until noon.

Competition begins Thursday at 11 a.m. with the men’s javelin throw, which will be followed by finals in the women’s and women’s pole vault, men’s and women’s long jump, and men’s and women’s hammer throw. Opening men’s decathlon and women’s heptathlon events are also scheduled for Thursday afternoon.

Prelims are set for early Thursday evening in three men’s and women’s running events, followed by the women’s 10,000-meter final at 8:10 p.m. and the men’s 10,000m at 8:50.

 

A full slate of events and preliminaries continues Friday and Saturday, with finals in 20 running events and four field events wrapping up the Championships on Saturday from 3 until 9 p.m.

 

Florida State’s men enter this year as the two-time defending champions after claiming the team title at NC State in 2021 and at Duke last season. Miami took home the women’s outdoor title a year ago

The Virginia Tech men and women swept this past February’s ACC Indoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Louisville.
