Illini Cross Country Set for Bradley Pink Classic


CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Illinois men’s and women’s cross country teams are back in action on Friday, Oct. 13, for the Bradley Pink Classic in Peoria, Ill. The Orange and Blue last competed on Sept. 29 at the Gans Creek Classic in Columbia, Mo. Senior Jack Roberts claimed individual gold with the program’s seventh-fastest 8k (23:48.8).

The men’s team as a whole claimed their second team win on the season with 46 points. The next Illini to finish behind Roberts were sophomores Alex Partlow and Brady Masters, who finished eighth and ninth, respectively. Partlow recorded a new personal-best (24:16.1), and Masters clocked a 24:20.3. Junior Nicolas Dovalovsky placed 12th with a new personal-best (24:24.8).

On the women’s front, junior Halle Hill continues to lead the squad. She finished sixth overall at the Gans Creek Classic with a new personal-best 6k (20:48.8). Junior Maggie Gamboa slotted herself inside the top-15 with a new personal-best (21:28.1) in her 13th-place finish.

Illinois will run people in both the Open and Invite races. The men’s 8k Open race is slated to begin at 1:30 p.m. followed by the women’s 6k Open race at 2:15 p.m. The Invite races will remain the same distances with the men’s starting at 3 p.m. and the women’s closing out the Bradley Pink Classic at 3:45 p.m.
