The class of conferences continues on Wednesday afternoon in the Class L Championship as SCC Champion Xavier and runner-up Amity take on SWC champs Newtown and NVL victors Naugatuck.

The resurgence of Xavier is attributable to a balance scoring attack on all fronts including sprints, hurdles, distance and field events. If the Falcons are going to add to their CIAC titles last won in 1999 then they will need Stylz Mitchell to have his A-game in both the 100m and 200m where he is top seeded. Xavier also has depth of several runners in each of the distance events led by top ranked Jack Ouellete in the 1600m and 3200m. The Falcons will need top ranked Hunter Feitel to equal his 13-0 PR for a soaring win in the pole vault.

The ongoing duel between Amity’s Daniel Kim and Xavier’s Sam Forte in the 110m and 300m hurdles will come to a head with Forte favored after he won both events at the SCC championship.

Amity’s sprint corp is led by Class L top seeded Max Musial who just came off his PR of 48.95 last week winning the SCC Championship while also 3rd seed in the 200m behind Mitchell. The 4x100m combination of Amity’s Musial, Kim, Micah Blair and Michael Bowman put them at the best seed. Amity continues with their relay power in the 4x400m as well with a quick 3.27.21 with Kim, Bowman, Lavi and Musical.

He won’t be alone as multi-event teammates Caleb Smith and Oliver Guzy hope for added success in the field events.

The Simsbury contingent will pin their hopes to move up from their runner-up slot on their distance crew that includes Daniel Coyne (800m), Luke Davis (1600m and 3200m) and a 4x800m that includes Coyne, Davis, Patrick Brenner and Caleb Davis. Their top ranked thrower Marshall Potter is only a sophomore but has the best seed in the shot put at over 54-ft while second ranked behind South WIndsor’s Samuel Meleshenko who is the CT #1 in the discus with his mark of…
