Alabama Set for the NCAA Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Championships


CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Alabama women’s cross country program, along with Crimson Tide men’s individual qualifiers Hillary Cheruiyot and Victor Kiprop, are set to compete in the final meet of the 2023 season when they travel to Charlottesville, Va., for the NCAA Men’s Women’s Cross Country National Championships. The national meet will air on ESPNU with coverage beginning at 8:30 a.m. CT.

The No. 20-ranked UA women will start their 6,000-meter race at 9:20 a.m. CT across the Panorama Farms Cross Country Course. Cheruiyot and Kiprop will close the meet at 10:10 a.m. when they compete individually in the men’s 10,000-meter race.

Last season, the UA women recorded a program-best third-place finish at the National Championships.

  • So far this postseason, both Kiprop and Hillary Cheruiyot have earned First Team All-SEC status, as well as All-South Region honors
  • Cheruiyot’s South Region individual title came one year after Kiprop claimed the 2022 title
  • The pair has clocked podium finishes in four meets this season

    • Kiprop has recorded two first-place finishes (Crimson Classic, Southeastern Conference Championships)
    • Cheruiyot’s lone first-place victory came at Friday’s NCAA South Regional Championships
