PULLMAN, Wash. — Washington State men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams each had one student-athlete qualify for the 2024 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships as Eva Lowder (women’s pole vault) and Mason Mahacek (heptathlon) both appeared on the official NCAA Division I qualifying list which was released Tuesday.
Lowder will compete in the women’s pole vault competition slated for night one on Fri., Mar. 8, will begin at 3 p.m. PST, while Mahacek and the men’s heptathlon field will compete both Friday and Saturday, Mar. 8 and Mar. 9, at The TRACK at New Balance in Boston, Mass.
A true freshman from Boise, Idaho, Lowder broke a 22-year-old program record at last week’s Ken Shannon Last Chance Invitational after she cleared 4.38m to move into the nation’s top-16. Lowder will be the first Cougar woman to qualify for the indoor championships since previous record holder Tamara Diles reached indoor all-America status back in 2002.
